.....The
New Bern Computer Users Group (NBCUG), started in 1994, is
an informal, unstructured group of people having a common interest
in personal computers. It is an unusual group in that it has no
charter, officers, dues or formal membership. Signing in at a meeting
constitutes membership and if an e-mail address is provided the
member will receive announcements of meetings, minutes, member list,
chat from members and be able to send mail to all members.
.....Whatever
happens at NBCUG meetings happens because of volunteers. The
group is always open to suggestions, including how to organize better.
Ideas, however, always seem to require volunteer doers.
-
NBCUG meets at the Knights of Columbus hall at 1125 Pinetree
Drive, New Bern, NC
-
NBCUG

-
Social
hour is from 8-9 a.m. This is the time to find out who
the gurus are to get help with your PC problems.
-
The
program starts promptly at 9 a.m.
-
To
help pay for the $150 rental of the meeting room, attendees
are charged $3.00 admission.
-

Upcoming NBCUG Meeting: October 18th
Next
Meeting presented by Jim Cason
Topic
TBA
Fresh
coffee is free and members may bring PC items to sell in the PC
Flea Market or donate to NBCUG. Meetings are held every month year
round unless a cancellation occurs due to bad weather or
member vote.
.....Programs
are presented by outside speakers and members. Being a speaker at
a meeting is fun and makes one feel more as a part of the group.
In absence of a program speaker, meetings default to an open forum
where the floor is open for any topics or questions brought up by
members. Some of the best meetings are open forums. The club has
a PC projector and access to wireless Internet that any member can
use for online demonstrations at meetings.

.....Since
the NBCUG started in 1994 with 18 attendees, meetings have
grown in size. Now in 2006 we are up to an average of more
than 60 attendees. Starting in 2006 there were 396 members
with 337 on the NBCUG e-mail list. Being able to send a message
to all members using the club's broadcast e-mail address is
an invaluable way for members to get help with a PC problem.
NBCUG
has rarely had a meeting without a new member showing up.
Come and join us.

Special
Interest Groups (SIGS) - Currently no active groups
NOTE:
NBCUG is now a member of User Group Relations, a national
support organization for user groups. Membership is at no
cost and there are some benefits to the user group and to
group members, among which is the opportunity to purchase
some software products (although the selection is limited)
at very good prices. Go to their Web site at www.ugr.com/ for more information.
The access code to use on the site starts with UG followed
by the current month's date as MMMYY. For example, the code
to use in January, 2005, would be UGJAN05. Although the code
is changed each month, any past code will work.
